Composing your own music

"Works of art make rules, rules do not make works of art.

Claude Debussy

COMPOSITION WORKSHOPS:

Express yourself! In these group settings, participants will improvise using specific rhythms, learn basic songwriting techniques, and review notation. Students will receive guidance on finding a topic, creating/writing a melody & filling in harmony to arrive at a personal composition! Students can sight read their pieces at the end of the workshop. They leave with an understanding of how to expand their song if they prefer a longer composition than time allows.

STRATEGY

“However beautiful the strategy,
you should occasionally
look at the results.”

Winston Churchill
