Iva studied music at both Western Carolina University and Grand Canyon University as a piano major. She has been a piano teacher for over 30 years, using a gentle, personalized and fun approach to learning and experiencing music.

As a member of the Music Teachers Association for 20 years, on the national level as well as the Az state/ NC state and local Phoenix, Az PMTA and Durham, NC DMTA, she has served as a board member on several committees. This includes chairing PMTA's Music at the Mall scholarship fund raiser and co chairing the Az Study Program ( a 12 year graded music theory and performance adjudication). She Was also the Third VP of the Durham Music Teachers Association 2011-14.

Iva is also a composer. Her compositions and improv pieces have been performed at art gallery openings and special events for health and wellness businesses. Her first CD - The Waters Edge - tells stories of a few of her life experiences through solo piano music.

Her studies in Manhattan at NYU and The New School, with Dr. Louise Montello qualify her as a Performance Wellness Coach, assisting students, teachers and performers of all ages in overcoming stage fright and finding a richer creative stance in practice, performance and daily life. 

She is also a certified Transformation Meditation Instructor.

She currently plays piano in the band FLORA FAUNA.

Iva currently splits her time between Durham and Sylva, NC - offering piano lessons, meditation sessions and Summon Your Muse workshops.
